A&A Shooters is a youth trap and skeet shotgun team for boys and girls from 6th through 12th grade. Team members are registered with the California Youth Shooting Sports Association (CYSSA) and the national organization, Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP). No prior shooting experience is required. Participants are taught and supervised by volunteer NRA-certified Level 1 Shotgun coaches, under the leadership of Head Coach Richard Lynch, an NRA/USA Shooting Certified Level 3 Shotgun Coach Instructor.
**Season schedule**
Sign-ups begin the end of January. Two Saturday practices in February welcome newcomers, then regular practice sessions for all participants begin the first Saturday in March with a mandatory parent/guardian and athlete meeting. Regular practices run Tuesdays starting at 2 PM and most Saturday mornings, with two trap sessions at 8 and 10 AM and a skeet session at 2 PM. Trap practices are held at the True Sportsman Club trap fields; skeet practices are at the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center outside of Ione. Team members may travel to 100-target shoots at trap and skeet ranges throughout Northern California on some Saturdays and Sundays. The season ends with the SCTP State Trap Championship in mid-June.
